Old Favourites

Soap and Glory Breakfast Scrub - £9.50
Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter - £10.50

Hey Guys,

It's really comming into autumn now and over the last 2 days the weather in the UK has been cold and wet.  Already I can feel my skin drying up with the wind and central heating.

To make it through the winter I have stocked up on some winter essentials.  These have to be my two favourite pampering products.  They have been around for ages and I love to try new products but these are always a winner.

I love a scrub that is rough and you can feel working on your skin and these products smell grear.

Do you have any tips on keeping skin soft during winter?

How Handy

Wild Rose Hand Cream - £5
Hemp Hand Protector - £10

Hey Guys,

During the winter my skin gets very dry especially on my hands.  I have never been a huge fan of hand cream because I can never find one that doesn't leave my hands feeling greasy.

Eventually I have found 2 that I will be using all winter.

I carry the wild rose cream in my handbag and the hemp protector I use before bed.  I have now been using these for 2 weeks and notice a huge difference.

The BIG Clear out

Hey Guys,

I have finally found the house of my dreams and have bought it.  Things seem to be moving so fast at the minute.  I feel in a bit of a daze.  I put that all down to excitment.

I was able to save for the house by cutting out on the amount I spent without having to cut out the amount I bought.  Its all about smart shopping and that's what this blog is all about.

Having a look round my room was scary.  The thought of moving all the clutter was stressful so there was only one thing for it.  Get rid of all that clutter.

This is what I did:
  • Make up-  If its not my colour or I have never used it - get rid of it.  I probably never will use it.
  • Products - Same as the make up, just let it all go.
  • Clothes - I went through my wardrobe and gathered up anything that no longer fitted (I must accept my love of food means my size 6 days are well and truely gone), anything that as losing its shape, out of fashion or I no longer wore.
  • Jewellery - I was amazed at the amount of jewellery I have never and would never deam of wearing.
  • Accessories - I have alot of accessories I have bought because they were different and a bit funky but they never went with anything in my wardrobe.
  • DVDs/CDs - This is when I noticed I am a hoarder.  I must have kept every DVD, CD and even video tape I have ever owned.  I had no intention of watching these.
  • Odds and ends - Out, out, out.
I gathered up enough to have a car boot sale, put any designer gear on ebay or send to a designer second hand shop (which actually give you money for the clothes) and take old books to a second hand book shop.

This has made me realise that there are more important things to be spending money on than designer clothes and makeup.  I have made a few more necessary purchases and I will be blogging about them soon.

Foundation Favourites

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation - £5.99
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder - £3.99

Hey Guys,

I am (or was) a firm believer in Estee Lauder Double Wear is the only way to go, until recently.

It has been a long time since I have bought foundation that wasn't from a makeup counter.  This is when I realised I had no idea what colour I needed or what texture of foundation I needed.

My skin can get quite oily as the day goes on so I choose the Stay Matte range.  It took me over an hour to choose this one.  I had swatches of foundations all over me.  To be honest I didn't have high hopes from these two products because I loved the Double Wear so much.

I first tried this on a day when my skin was playing up.  I was oily and spotty and the worst thing is that im not even a teenager any more.  This did help to keep my skin Matte throughout the day while I was at work.  So I do think this does the job and I continue to wear it Monday - Fridays at work and I do still use my double wear at weekends.

Would highly recommend this or to anyone who only buys foundations from a makeup counter, go and try other brands.  Once you get the colour right you will find the right one for you.

Do you find it difficult to change foundations?

Moisturing Mission

Boots Moisturing Cream - £1.52
Garnier Essentials Day Cream - £4.95
Nivea Q10 Day Cream - £6.66

I went on a little bit of a mission lately to find a moisturiser which was great value for money and for under £10.

What I found was that it is actually pretty easy to get a moisturiser for under £10.

My least favourite is the Boots Moisturing Day Cream.  The only good thing I can say about this is that it was good value for money (100ml for £1.52).  When I bought it I thought it would be really fresh with the cucumber frangrance but when I tried it I hated it.  It was such a thick cream and my makeup didn't sit nicely ontop of it.  And then theres the packaging but you canee that for yourself.

My second favourite is the Nivea Essentials Day Cream.  This was nice and fresh but it just didn't feel like good quality.  I will continue to use this but i'm not so sure I will be repurchasing this again.  The packaging was also a little cheap and very plastic.

My all new favourite and still within my budget is Nivea Q10 Day Cream.  There is so much to love about this.  The packaging is glass with a plastic lid which is nice.  The cream is lovely and light and makes a great base for my foundation.  This is the only cream that had SPF in it which is always important in skin products.  I will be repurchasing and also testing the night cream.

I have shown myself that a decent moisturiser doesn't have to cost alot and I will be swapping my Estee Lauder with the Nivea Q10.  It is a winner.

What is your favourite moisturiser?

The One

Dolce & Gabbana The One 50ml - £53

Hey Guys,

Do you know when you get an unexpected gift and it just makes your day.  Well this was one of those moments.  My lovely boyfriend brought me this back from his day at the Paralympics.  Don't mean to brag but he really is the best :) and the name of the perfume is just perfect to give to a partner - The One.  Put a big smile on my face.

This is such a lovely perfume.  For me its more of a night time, going out fragrance.

There are quite a few birthdays and weddings coming up in the next few weeks and this will be getting its first outing soon.

What is your favourite perfume at the minute?

New In - Boots

Boots - New Look £34.99

Hey Guys,

As I mentioned in yesterdays blog I love Autum and Winter fashion.  Buying boots is my guilty pleasure.

Last year I looked for a pair of tan biker boots until spring arrived and I eventually gave up.  I am actually glad I never found any as these are perfect and are well within my price range.

This season I am loving studs on shoes, boots, jeans and jackets.

I have already a few outfits in my head that would be perfect for these boots.  Skinny jeans, t-shirts and parka jackets are all going to be a good look this autumn.

The colour will go with so much I already have in my wardrobe (always an important thing to consider when buying shoes)

For years I have been buying shoes and boots from New Look.  I think about 75% of my shoes are from here.  For the price the quality is great.

Look out for some outfit of the day posts soon.
